What this actually looks like

Half-word, full-room.

Every player's phone shows the same gappy word and an input field: "F_NT_CH." The countdown starts. Most of the room types "FINTECH" within three seconds. Someone types "FANTASH." The leaderboard updates. Cast the host view to a TV if you want a big-screen moment, or skip it entirely if you are on a call or sitting around a table.

The fastest three correct answers bank 967, 921, and 884. A last-second save banks 528. Wrong guesses bank zero. The next word is harder: "BL_ _CH_IN." The room thinks.

Five rounds in, the leaderboard tells a story. The marketing team is dominating the pop culture set. The engineering team are about to fight back on the technical set.

Where Missing letter shines

The same game. Different rooms. Same energy.

Scenario 01

Onboarding cohort

Onboarding

The fastest way to teach company terms.

A People Ops lead builds a custom Missing Letter set using all the acronyms new joiners are expected to learn. The onboarding cohort plays it as the opening 10 minutes. By the end of the round, they have seen every acronym five times. The retention is far better than any wiki.

Scenario 02

Conference break

Conference break

The 10 minute energiser between sessions.

Conference day, 2:30pm. The session host runs Missing Letter with words built around the conference theme. Delegates who were checking email are now competing on the leaderboard. The afternoon sessions get the attention the morning ones did not.

Scenario 03

Classroom energiser

Classroom

Vocabulary practice that does not feel like homework.

A secondary school teacher builds a Missing Letter set around the term's vocabulary. The class plays it as the last 15 minutes of Friday. Students who never volunteer answers are racing for the top of the leaderboard. The teacher saves the set and runs it again every Friday.

How Missing Letter plays

Out of the box. In the Playground. In Team Mode.

Run a pre-built set with one tap. Build your own set when the audience deserves something specific. Team Mode turns it into a huddle.

Online Player Mode

Everyone plays on their own device.

Each person scans the QR code or taps the link, sees the game on their phone, and submits answers. The live scoreboard runs in real time on the big screen.

Best for: virtual sessions, hybrid offsites, larger crowds where you want maximum individual participation.

Team Mode

A group shares one device, plays as one team.

Players are grouped into 2 to 6 colour-coded teams. Each team huddles around one device, debates the answer, and submits together. The energy in the room goes up immediately.

Best for: in-person offsites, weddings, family gatherings, anywhere you want people talking to each other instead of staring at their phones.

The Playground

Build a custom question set for your audience.

Open the Playground and write your own questions before the session. Build it around your team's inside jokes, your brand, your community's interests. Save it to your library and run it again whenever you need it.

Best for: facilitators, team leads, community managers, brand teams who want every round to feel personalised.

Offline ยท Coming soon

Offline mode is coming.

For when you do not want everyone joining from their phones. Coming soon: a fastest-finger format the host runs from one device, and a one-team-at-a-time round where each team gets a single question to crack before the next team takes over. Same word library, no devices required for players.

Try a few rounds, no sign-up. Bring it to your next session, no friction.

Public preview is live for this game. Build your own set in the Playground when you are ready.
